THE AI GAMING FIELD GUIDE

AI game downloads: know what is in the package.

Source code, a playable build and a mod installer are different deliverables. Read the release type and requirements before you download, compile or run anything.

Source archive or playable release?

Source ZIP: contains project files for development. It may require a specific compiler, dependencies, an approved build process and original game files supplied by the player. Source availability is not a claim of completeness or verified gameplay.

Playable release: provides a package intended to run on a documented platform. Still check the supported version, installation steps, known limitations and any separate model or service requirements.

Mod package: extends another game. Confirm the base-game edition, loader, dependencies, installation order and rollback procedure.

Web or hosted service: may require an account or subscription instead of a downloadable game. Confirm its official destination and terms rather than looking for an unofficial mirror.

Check the requirements before running files.

  1. Identify the creator, official project link and exact release version.
  2. Read the license and notices for code, models, artwork and original-game data. These can have different terms.
  3. Check the supported operating system, storage, hardware and additional service requirements.
  4. Read the installation and removal instructions. Preserve your saves and working configuration.
  5. Compare a creator-provided checksum when one is available. A matching checksum confirms matching bytes, not safety or playability.
  6. Review unknown code and scan downloads with your normal security tools before execution. No scan is a guarantee.

How hosted Modport downloads differ from directory links.

Directory listings and hosted releases are reviewed separately. On the live library, read each project card and its available release label. Source ZIPs may still require a build and your own original game files.

For hosted releases, follow the displayed Discord sign-in and membership instructions, complete the community screening, and accept the applicable policy. Download access is checked separately from a project listing. Read the hosted download policy for the exact boundaries.

When a project has no reviewed hosted release, an official creator link is not a promise that Modport can mirror it. A public repository is not an automatic redistribution grant.

Planning an AI-specific installation?

Use the AI NPC setup guide for local or hosted model configuration, voice components and privacy questions. Use the AI games discovery guide to distinguish gameplay integrations from development experiments.

Creators can follow the spreadsheet and SQLite workflow to keep features, requirements and evidence organized. Build and gameplay results should be reported separately from source availability.
